CEREC®
Damaged or weakened teeth often need crowns, onlays, or veneers to restore strength and appearance. In the past, that process meant multiple appointments, temporary restorations, and weeks of waiting.
CEREC® technology changes that experience. Using advanced digital design and in-office milling, custom ceramic restorations are created and placed in a single visit, saving time while delivering precise, natural-looking results.
How Are CEREC® Restorations Different from Traditional Ones?
Traditional restorations require physical impressions, temporary options, and a dental lab to fabricate the final piece. CEREC® crowns are designed digitally and crafted right in the office.
Instead of messy molds and long turnaround times, detailed 3D imaging guides the design process, and a milling unit produces the restoration within minutes. The result matches the quality of lab-made crowns while streamlining the entire procedure.
How Are CEREC® Restorations Made and Placed?
Your dentist begins by preparing the tooth and removing any decay. A digital scan captures precise images, allowing specialized CAD software to create a detailed 3D model. The restoration is designed on-screen from every angle for an exact fit.
Once the design is finalized, the information is sent to the in-office milling unit. A ceramic block selected to match your natural tooth shade is shaped into a custom crown, veneer, onlay, or inlay, often in about 15 minutes.
After confirming the fit, your dentist polishes and bonds the restoration in place. The visit concludes with your smile restored the same day.
